The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC) and has over 12,000 members. The organization, which is based in Washington, DC, is led by an elected board of members who volunteer their time and expertise. The Association for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) was conceived in 1972 out of recognition of the need for an organized, systematic approach to the “control” of infections acquired as a result of hospitalization. The name was changed to the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC), in 1994 to recognize the organization’s maturation and evolution into the broader context of healthcare delivery in this country.
APIC Northern New Jersey continues to strive in providing its members as well as other healthcare personnel wealth of resources and support. Knowledge and information shared are not limited to infection prevention but includes multiple topics to improve quality and safe patient care. These efforts are evidenced by the awards received by the Chapter over the years:

We have two chapters in New Jersey – Northern & Southern – with members from all fields of healthcare. Northern NJAPIC meets monthly with a business meeting followed by an educational program. Annually, we have a Joint Educational Conference with Southern New Jersey APIC and the Infectious Diseases Society of New Jersey.
