The Infection Preventionist , (IP)(formerly Infection Control Coordinator) evaluates quality of patient care and patients outcomes as they relate to health care –associated infections, collects, prepares, analyzes and presents healthcare-associated infection data. The IP monitors employee compliance to infection prevention measures. The IP assists the Infection Prevention and Control Director in preparation and presentation of some educational offerings for the staff and serves as a resource to physicians, all departments and personnel. The IP collects data for entrance into NHSN and reports infections or communicable diseases to the necessary local, state or federal agencies as indicated. The IP supports and implements the philosophy, goals and standards of the JFK Health System. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status. The IP reports to and is under the direction of the Infection Prevention and Control Director.
- Work Experience: At least three to five years of prior work experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
- Licensure / Certification / Special Skills: NJ Licensed Registered Nurse
Must have a CIC certification
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- Technical / Equipment: Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates excellent computer skills
