Job Description:
We are currently seeking
a Director of Infection Control to develop
and direct the activities of the Hospital
Infection Control Program to prevent and
control the spread of communicable and
infectious diseases in patients from birth
to older adult, employees and visitors in
collaboration with the Infectious Diseases
Medical Staff, Administration of UH, and
Occupational Medicine Services.
Required
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates must
possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant
health related field, three to five (3-5)
years of progressive leadership experience
coordinating or directing an Infection
Control Program. Certification in Infection
Control (CIC) is required. Strong knowledge
of regulatory standards/compliance,
accreditation standards, data management,
and performance improvement methodologies
related to Infection Control required.
Experience in software and hardware
applications specific to Infection Control
monitoring and surveillance benchmarking
required.

Job Description:
As a key member of our Infection Control
team, you will develop IC strategies, assess
surveillance documents daily to identify
“high risk” diagnosis/lab reports, examine
medical records for evidence of potential
HAI, and conduct targeted surveillance to
determine potential outbreaks.
Responsibilities include:
- Reporting communicable infectious
diseases to local BOH, MD, etc in
designated time frame
- Providing analysis and recommending
interventions
- Researching, preparing and
presenting educational programs for
hospital staff
- Developing departmental/hospital
policies and procedures
- Acting as a resource to staff by
assessing and helping resolve issues
based on hospital policy and acceptable
IC practices
- Ensuring compliance with Environment
of Care standards
- Participating in Bioterrorism
training courses
- Developing patient and family
educational materials
- Handling other related functions as
needed
Required Qualifications:
To qualify, you must be a NJ Licensed RN
or Medical Technologist (ASCP) with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or
related field, and at least 3 years of
clinical nursing or laboratory
experience.Additional requirements
include:
- Basic knowledge of microbiology,
medical terminology and statistical
concepts will be expected, as well
as the ability to grasp infection
control strategies, and knowledge of
hospital policies/procedures
- Certification in Infection
Control (CIC) within 5 years of
practice, and participation in
Association of Practitioners of
Infection Prevention and Control (APIC)
infection control training course
are required
- Strong organizational,
oral/written communication,
analytical PC (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint) and Infection Control
specific software skills a must
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years experience in hospital epidemiology,
as well as prior teaching/educational
experience desired.
