The Association for Professionals in Infection
Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC) and has over
12,000 members. The organization, which is based in
Washington, DC, is led by an elected board of members
who volunteer their time and expertise. The Association
for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) was
conceived in 1972 out of recognition of the need for an
organized, systematic approach to the "control" of
infections acquired as a result of hospitalization. The
name was changed to the Association for Professionals in
Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC), in 1994
to recognize the organization's maturation and evolution
into the broader context of healthcare delivery in this
country.
APIC Northern New Jersey continues to strive in
providing its members as well as other healthcare
personnel wealth of resources and support. Knowledge and
information shared are not limited to infection
prevention but includes multiple topics to improve
quality and safe patient care. These efforts are
evidenced by the awards received by the Chapter over the
years:
- 2011 Chapter Excellence Award for Strategic Alliance
- 2006 CBIC Chapter of the Year
- 2005 Chapter Excellence Award for Education, Communication and Information
Resources
- 2004 Chapter Excellence Award for Strategic Alliance
